Monumental installation

The main room of the Palais Saint-Jean in Lyon (a listed building partly occupied by the municipal library of the city's 5th arrondissement), houses the monumental installation by the Lyon visual artist Michèle-Amélie Favre (aka Sensartistik).

Entitled “Work 202”, this installation was specially designed for the exhibition “L’(H)ALU!” as part of the 10th Biennale Hors-Normes of contemporary art. It is made up of 202 strips of recycled aluminum 3 meters high, hung on a 24 meter long line more than 8 meters from the ground, after having been cut and shaped one by one by the artist.

A call to raise your eyes to seek out the natural light which is reflected in the material, revealing the metallic shine of the aluminum which can appear white or golden depending on the orientation and the time of day. The sheaths, for their part, punctuate time with the luminous breath, ascending and descending.

What will you see in these ripples? Illusion is the power of (H)ALU(CINATION)!
